The large format files have layers, just like the print at home version of the pattern, so depending on your printshop they may be willing to use this option to print only the sizes you need! You will want to ask that the file be printed at “Actual Size” (or scale to 100%). Take the USB stick into your local print shop and ask them to print the page(s) you need onto A0 (33.11“ x 46.81” or 84.1 cm x 118.9cm) size paper. Read these instructions so you are prepared and ask for only the pages you need to be printed! You may not need every page within the file, depending on the size and view you are making. I suggest opening the large format file (in adobe reader) and viewing these instructions before heading to the print shop. There are instructions for printing the pattern on the top right corner of the first page of the large format file. If you are using a Mac, click on the eject icon next to the USB stick. You can now remove the USB stick from your computer. Once your files are on the USB stick, in the lower left menu bar of your computer click the ^ icon then right click on the icon as shown below to safely “eject the USB” drive. This “drag and drop” will save a copy of the file on to the USB stick. While holding down the mouse button drag it over to the USB drive and release the mouse button. If you already have the file saved on your computer, navigate to where it is saved then click on file. When plugged into your computer the USB will show as a drive within in your file explorer (or Finder if you are using a Mac) which you can move or save files to.ĭownload and save the large format file to this USB drive. To take your pattern to a printshop you need to put a copy of the file onto a portable USB stick (also known as a thumb drive). However this option does have the benefit of in person assistance and supporting shops in your own area! You will want to ask the staff for the most economical printing option which most will refer to as a “Engineer prints”, “Blueprint printing” or “Plan printing” options. In my experience this option is a bit more costly than an online sewing pattern specific print shop. You can take the pattern file to a local print shop like Staples, Office Depot/Office Max or FedEx (U.S. However, in the past few years, there are printing shops popping up that are specific to sewing patterns!
